Rangers make enquiry over deal for Everton striker, state of play assessed

The Rangers Review exclusively revealed on Saturday that the 21-year-old was under consideration should the club look to make more than one addition at No.9.

A deal with Girona has been agreed for Bojan Miovski, with the 26-year-old striker set to become the latest addition to Russell Martin's squad.

The Rangers Review understands that the deal to sign Miovski is in the region of £2.6 million, with the potential for the fee to rise to above £4m with add-ons.

The former Aberdeen striker moved to the La Liga outfit last summer following two impressive season in Scotland.

Rangers are active in the striker market after the club agreed a £10.4m deal with Lille for Hamza Igamane. The Moroccan striker refused to come off the bench during Saturday's 1-1 draw with St Mirren and didn't travel to Belgium for last night's embarrassing exit in the Champions League.

Chermiti, 21, moved to Goodison from Sporting Lisbon in 2023 for an initial fee of €12.5 million, when Rangers' sporting director Kevin Thelwell was working as the Toffees' director of football. And the Rangers Review understands that preliminary talks with Thelwell's former club have taken place over the possibility of bringing the attacker to Ibrox in the window's final days.

Rangers have been active in their pursuit of forwards, with Igamane's exit long anticipated and Cyriel Dessers' future remaining uncertain.

The club rejected an offer for Dessers from AEK Athens earlier this summer and had set a price tag through to be in the region £5million on the forward. There is an expectation that their resolve could be tested for the 30-year-old in the window's final days. Dessers is entering the final year of his contract next summer.

Meanwhile, Russell Martin retains the support of the Ibrox board for now and is set to be in the dugout for the Old Firm showdown with Celtic.

The Rangers Review understands Martin’s position as head coach is not under consideration in the immediate aftermath of the Champions League defeat to Club Brugge. Martin insisted on Wednesday night that he did not fear for his future as supporters voiced their anger at the collapse in Belgium.

Chants of ‘Martin, Martin get to f***’ were heard in the away end as Brugge ran riot and stormed to a 9-1 aggregate victory in the play-off round tie. Rangers will discover their opponents in the Europa League when the draw is made on Friday.
