Drew Brees Reveals What Stands Out About Bo Nix’s Game

NFL teams take a big risk when they select a quarterback in the first round of the draft.

This immediately puts a lot of pressure on young athletes, knowing they’re expected to succeed from the get-go.

Some players rise to the occasion in Year 1, others take some time to get going, while others still never find their footing at the next level.

There was a lot of discourse about the decision for teams to select six quarterbacks in the 2024 draft, as many wondered how they would all pan out.

All of them have seen action besides J.J. McCarthy, who suffered a season-ending injury before he could take a snap, so there is, at minimum, some tape on what they could accomplish in this league.

Bo Nix was a bright star for the Denver Broncos last season despite being a heavily debated prospect, and now looks to lead the team for the foreseeable future.

He caught the attention of many of his peers and media members, including legendary QB Drew Brees, who recently talked highly about him on ESPN.

“Great young man. A guy who’s matured beyond his years. Started 61 games in college, which is really impressive. I think that’s a key formula to guys being able to step in the NFL and have some early success is that level of experience. Obviously, Bo going in last year as a rookie, I just saw him progress as the season went on. His ability to distribute the ball and make plays outside the pocket, I think a lot of what we talked about was pre-snap read, preparation, recovery, all the intricacies of playing the quarterback position,” Brees said.

Brees not only mentioned Nix’s on-field prowess, but his abilities and character off the field, as well.

When athletes have a good head on their shoulders, especially if they play a position like quarterback, it generally bodes well for them and their career.

Brees couldn’t have spoken more highly about Nix in both areas, making fans that much more excited to see what he’ll be able to accomplish in Year 2.
