Newcastle United defender Dan Burn has expressed his pride in the Geordie faithful following Monday night’s titanic tussle with Liverpool.
Eddie Howe’s side put in a brilliant performance but, sadly, Newcastle lost 3-2 to Liverpool in a Premier League classic at St James’ Park.
The scoreline, however, really doesn’t tell the whole story. Newcastle were without star striker Alexander Isak as he continues in his self-imposed exile, while stand-in centre-forward Anthony Gordon was sent off in the first-half.
Howe’s men were two goals down not long after the break but dragged it back to 2-2 despite also losing Sandro Tonali, Joelinton and Fabian Schar to injury.
Teenager Rio Ngumoha scored a late winner to seal a late win for the champions, but Newcastle certainly put up quite the fight in testing circumstances. A dramatic game unfolded all while the Isak to Liverpool saga lingered in the background.
Burn was brilliant on the night and, on Thursday, he sent a message to fans.
