Youssef Chermiti has fallen down the pecking order at Everton, and the striker now appears set to head out on loan.
Thierno Barry joined from Villarreal this summer, in a move which will reduce Chermiti’s already limited game time.
Chermiti was absent from the squad as Everton beat Mansfield Town 2-0 in the Carabao Cup, and David Moyes explained that a possible transfer was the reason behind this.
With Chermiti’s long-term potential rated highly within the club, a loan makes perfect sense, and he could now reunite with a key former Everton figure.

Rangers in talks to sign Youssef Chermiti from Everton
Former Everton director Kevin Thelwell moved up north to join Rangers earlier this summer, and he is now aiming to bring Chermiti with him.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
The Daily Mail have reported that Rangers are in talks with Everton to sign Chermiti on loan, with the Gers desperate for a centre-forward.
Chermiti joined Everton in 2023 for around £12.5 million, but failed to impress in the limited opportunities he has been given.
The 21-year-old has started just one Premier League game in two years, and is yet to score a single goal for the Toffees.
Rangers are selling former Everton target Hamza Igamane to Lille, and need at least one striker in the remainder of this window.
Everton are keen for Chermiti to gain more experience, and given that Thelwell has seen him close up before, it is clear that he believes he can help solve Rangers’ need for a striker.
Indeed, Thelwell has previously spoken highly of Chermiti, and the player himself also recently revealed the part the former Everton director played in him moving to Merseyside.

Youssef Chermiti could play regularly at Rangers
A loan exit for Chermiti makes perfect sense as he was hardly going to receive an opportunity at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season.
With Rangers in woeful form and Russell Martin under intense pressure, Chermiti will not exactly be entering a happy environment, but he will gain the chance to play regularly, given their desperation for a striker.
The 21-year-old brings height and speed to the attack, and if he settles quickly and finds his scoring form at Ibrox, then he can fight for a future at Everton.
With two years remaining on his deal, Everton will have to make a decision next summer, to either offer him a new contract or sell the striker, and his performances out on loan will determine the next course of action.
