As the transfer window draws to a close, Wolves are all systems go in efforts to bring in new players to the side, but one of their preferred targets has now been snapped up.

This final week of the window is always fun, with new links emerging every day as clubs scramble to set their team up for a strong season.

Much of the focus around Molineux this week has been in relation to the striker position.

Wolves are entering negotiations for Tolu Arokodare of K.R.C. Genk, and are still trying to sort out the Christantus Uche deal that has unravelled in the past 24 hours.

But looking further back the pitch to the midfield area, one target who could have been a brilliant fit has agreed to a move to Real Sociedad.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Wolves have had dealings with Real Sociedad this summer for Goncalo Guedes’ sale, and now the Spanish side are snapping up another would-be Wolves player.

Soler’s decision to return to his home country is a fair one, and Wolves fans won’t dwell on the missed opportunity for too long, with much more pressing issues in the forward areas.

Wolves’ midfield depth may have already been addressed

Pereira voiced concerns over Andre following his controversial decision to exclude the Brazilian from the lineup against Bournemouth.

It seems as though the situation has improved, with Andre starting against West Ham. In his absence, it became clear that Wolves didn’t have any profiles that could cover his workload effectively.

But Wolves just signed Ladislav Krejci, and although he played primarily as a central defender for Girona, he has shown he is capable of playing in the middle of the park as well.

He captained Sparta Praha to a league title as a midfielder, winning the Player of the Season award in the process.

If there are to be just a couple more signings at Wolves before the deadline, we may already have our new backup in the centre of the park.
