Liverpool may consider a “late” move for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson if they fail to land Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, according to reports.
The Telegraph journalist Matt Law, who has strong sources when it comes to the Blues, claims that there could be “late interest” in Jackson from “Newcastle or even Liverpool”.
This link has not come out of nowhere either. Back in July, The Athletic‘s trusted reporter David Ornstein revealed that Jackson is a player who is “liked” by Reds’ sporting director Richard Hughes.

The Senegalese international is expected to leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline on Monday evening.
Jackson does have other suitors
Bayern Munich are said to be confident of securing the striker’s signature on loan, but Chelsea are believed to be delaying the deal as they would ideally like to sell him.
They were hoping Newcastle would come in for Jackson if Isak is sold, but they would be open to an approach from Liverpool too.
Enzo Maresca’s side have shown on several occasions that they are willing to offload players to rivals. They sold Noni Madueke to Arsenal for £52m earlier this summer.
What is the latest on Liverpool’s move for Isak?
Every passing day that Newcastle fail to sign a replacement, the less likely it is that the Swedish international will arrive at Anfield. The Magpies have been trying to land Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen. A third bid of around £60m is expected to be lodged but his club have made it clear that they will not sell the Norwegian.
Of course, if Newcastle do end up making an offer for Jackson, it could open up the door for Isak, but manager Eddie Howe and his recruitment team are reportedly split on whether to buy him. A lot could still happen before the transfer window closes.
