Everton have missed out on their fair share of players this transfer window, but one star could now prove to be the one that got away.
After spending almost £120 million this summer, The Friedkin Group have stuck to their ambition for the Toffees.
The signing of Tyler Dibling looks to represent good business as Dibling’s sell-on clause is lower than 20%, meaning the Everton hierarchy negotiated the £40 million deal well.
It’s certainly a risk on an unproven 19-year-old, but David Moyes seems to have a lot of faith in the player.
The Scotsman also wanted another star, but his future has ultimately led him away from the Blue side of Merseyside.

Tom Fellows set to join Southampton after being wanted at Everton
With Everton seemingly sorting out their right winger area after the signing of the Southampton star, the Saints have looked at his replacement.
Tom Fellows looked to be Southampton’s answer, and that now appears true, with it being reported by The Athletic that the West Brom winger will join Will Still’s side for £10 million.

Darnell Furlong also on his way to Ipswich for up to £4m.

Of course, the Blues have been looking at his services, as Moyes sent Charlie Adam to scout Fellows, with the 22-year-old being a long-term target.
Ultimately, with Dibling joining, it never looked like the West Brom player would emerge back on the scene for the Toffees, and staying in the Championship looks to be his next venture.
But it could have been so much more for Fellows, as Sean Dyche and a familiar ownership had a plan up their sleeves.
Tom Fellows was meant to be first transfer of 777 partners’ failed takeover at Everton
Many Evertonians will remember that before The Friedkins arrived, it was 777 partners looking to take over from Farhad Moshiri’s reign.
Of course, this failed due to the complexity of the takeover, with significant financial issues taking place.
But once upon a time, 777 partners wanted Fellows as their first signing, and Dyche was someone on board with the transfer.
Fellows was perfect for Dyche in terms of a winger with excellent crossing from wide areas, and it looked certain that the 22-year-old would sign.
However, not everything works out, and ultimately Moyes and Dyche have both missed out on the opportunity.
Things could have been so much different for Fellows, but it will be Dibling who looks to carry the exciting project along.
