Here we go (soon)–Man Utd starlet ready to join Chelsea?

Chelsea are closing in on the transfer of Old Trafford outcast, Alejandro Garnacho. The winger is on course to join Enzo Maresca and the rest of the squad in the coming days before the transfer window closes.

Alejandro Garnacho’s falling out with manager Ruben Amorim at the end of last season has paved the way for his Red Devils exit. Chelsea highly rates the Argentinian forward and are confident that they would be able to get him back on the right track.

According to a report published by English daily, The Guardian, talks are underway between the two clubs keeping in mind the September 1st deadline. Manchester United are also willing to lower their asking price in order to ensure that the out of favor player leaves this window.

Garnacho was also considered by Arsenal as an option to strengthen their attack but the club went in a different direction with Eze.

What’s brewing?

Since the UEFA Europa League final, Garnacho has not featured for Manchester United. The manager no longer relies on the services of the winger having already added the likes of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to his attacking arsenal this summer.

Additionally the club is compelled to get rid of several forwards who are surplus to requirements to the Portuguese gaffers plans at Old Trafford this season.

Marcus Rashford has already joined La Liga giants, Barcelona on a loan deal. However, fellow widemen Jadon Sancho and Antony are still to find a new home for this season.

Proposed move to Chelsea

It was initially suggested that the asking price set by Manchester United was near the £50 million mark. However, as per latest developments the Red Devils will consider settling for a fee in the region of £35 – £40 million.

The Garnacho transfer comes at time the Blues were massively linked with RB Leipzig’s young prodigy, Xavi Simons. The trust being put into Garnacho at a crucial time of his career, highlights the new transfer policy at Stamford Bridge.

The winger will also be eyeing a place in the World Cup squad next year alongside his compatriot, Lionel Messi. Staying put at Manchester United could severely harm Garnacho’s chances of playing at this prestigious tournament.

The closing days of the window could be critical in deciding the players growth trajectory. It is hard not to be critical of Manchester United’s decision to do business with a direct Premier League rival, despite receiving interest from suitors abroad during the summer.
