West Ham open ‘concrete talks’ with Hull City star after Mateus Fernandes, one uncertainty looms - journalist

Hull City are facing a barrage from West Ham United as the Hammers are attempting to sign one key Tigers man.

Hull City have undergone a challenging summer period amid a transfer fee restriction.

Whilst Hull City’s initial punishment has been reduced from three to two windows, the club still walk a tightrope, being closely monitored by the EFL.

The Tigers have recruited shrewdly this summer despite the restrictions, whilst also being particularly careful about the players they wish to sanction sales for.

Hull City defensive pair Alfie Jones and Sean McLoughlin were both moved on to Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers, respectively, and despite one other star attracting interest from West Ham, it is unlikely that the Tigers will entertain any offers.

Hull City goalkeeper Ivor Pandur attracts interest from Premier League side West Ham United

It has been reported, via Sky Sports’ Ben Heckner, that West Ham United are in ‘concrete talks’ over a deal to sign Croatian goalkeeper Ivor Pandur from Hull City.

Discussions are reportedly ‘ongoing’ for a deal that has been deemed ‘possible’ before the summer transfer window comes to a close.

It is likely that West Ham are keen to add another goalkeeper to the squad after the unconvincing performances of former Leicester City shot-stopper Mads Hermansen so far this season.

However, such a deal would prove to be difficult for West Ham due to the difficulty Hull City would face in replacing Pandur, making them less likely to sanction a sale of the goalkeeper.

Additionally, it has been widely reported earlier this summer that Pandur was happy at the MKM Stadium, despite interest elsewhere.

West Ham United would have to pay a significant amount to entice Tigers

As things stand, Hull City owner Acun Ilicali got the club into deep waters with the missed payments to clubs, and the sale of their No.1 choice goalkeeper would make a big issue an insurmountable one.

The Hull City chief will not have any desire to toy with losing Ivor Pandur, unless West Ham United come in with a significant bid for the Croatian goalkeeper.

West Ham may be desperate to stage a significant bid for Pandur amid all of the uncertainty on Mads Hermansen’s performances, but it may take up to £20m to lure Hull City in, a fee that is significantly above his value, but he is worth far more to the Tigers at this moment than any other club.
