Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has reportedly turned down the opportunity to join Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr.
According to a report from GOAL BRASIL, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr recently approached Casemiro regarding a potential move to the Middle East, but the player has turned down the opportunity. He wants to continue at Manchester United until the end of his contract.
After winning it all with Real Madrid, Casemiro joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2022 in a deal worth £70 million. He had an exceptional debut campaign, but could not back it up in the 2023/24 season. With him struggling for form, the Brazilian international was on the verge of securing a move to Saudi Arabia at the start of the year.
However, he ended up staying at Old Trafford and worked his way into Ruben Amorim’s plans. The 33-year-old had an impressive end to last season and is now regarded as one of the mainstays under the Portuguese manager.
Casemiro snubs Saudi move
With just 12 months left on his deal, Saudi Arabian giants have been keen on prising him away. There was interest earlier in the summer, and most recently, Al-Nassr came calling, hoping to reunite him with former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
While Al-Nassr were prepared to offer him a massive contract and did make an approach, Casemiro turned it down. The Saudi Pro League club have been informed that he has no desire to leave United this summer.
The Brazilian is determined to play at the highest level as he targets a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the World Cup next summer. At 33, he could still play an important role under the Italian manager and wants to be at his best when he represents his country one final time on the biggest stage.
Although Casemiro has rejected the chance to move to the Middle East this summer, he is expected to be open to a switch next year when he becomes a free agent, with United unlikely to trigger the option of extending his stay by another season.
