Details have emerged about what caused Bayern Munich’s interest in Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku to fall apart. No shocker: the Bavarians are said to be sticking to their guns in a loan-only policy to close out the transfer window.
From GiveMeSport correspondent Ben Jacobs, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Chelsea demanded €50m from Bayern for Christopher Nkunku, but Bayern only wanted a loan. Chelsea are now in talks with Milan, with the player open to the move. Price is expected to drop in the final days of the window [@JacobsBen]
Fabrizio Romano also tweeted that Nkunku is now closing in on a move to AC Milan, with talks “well advanced.” Per Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the deal is now complete as well and will be for €35-€37 million guaranteed.
That should be that for Bayern and Nkunku, who certainly lit up the Bundesliga in his time at RB Leipzig. The Bavarians have turned instead to his Blues teammate Nicolas Jackson.
Would €50M have been reasonable for Nkunku? Regardless, it seems the Bavarians are having a hard time committing to a new player at the moment.
