Christantus Uche to Wolves has stalled – Player crashes car at training as circus goes on

Getafe manager José Bordalás has insisted that Christantus Uche has trained normally and will play with them on Friday, despite drama regarding a potential move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Estadio Deportivo cover comments from the Getafe manager today in which he was asked about Uche’s potential departure to Wolves before the end of the window.

Vitor Pereira’s side have moved for him over the last week, sparking a circus of events that’s had Getafe’s president denying a meeting with his agent and said agent joking that he must have met someone who looked like him instead.

The Getafe squad have even gotten involved, chasing Uche and banging on his car at the training ground asking him to stay. That same car was later seen being towed away by a tow truck sporting damage after reportedly being driven into a wall. We’d point out that the whole thing was turning into a car crash before that point anyway.

Bordalás was naturally asked about the situation in his press conference but insisted that the midfielder had trained as normal despite the drama around him.

“Honestly, I’m not going to talk about signings and departures,” he said.

“I already said what I thought in my last press conference. Our president knows the needs of the club and the team. If he stays, it’s good news for everyone. He’s been training normally. If nothing happens, he’ll be with us by tomorrow.”

COPE, meanwhile, explain that the deal with Wolves has now been put on hold. They say that the Nigerian had been sold but the player and his agent halted the deal. For now, it appears he won’t be leaving, at least not to Wolves.

Why he turned down the move isn’t made clear but it’s bad news for Getafe, who need the money to comply with La Liga’s financial policies. Indeed, they need to sell another player by Monday and had hoped Uche would be the one.

Now it appears that won’t be the case and the circus that has surrounded him this week isn’t quite ready to pack up and roll elsewhere yet.
