Manchester United have seen fit to change their social media bio following their humiliating defeat to Grimsby Town. The Red Devils were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening at Blundell Park, via a penalty shootout with head coach Ruben Amorim offering a worrying assessment.
United, were two goals down against League Two opposition after just 30 minutes as Andre Onana produced a poor display on his return to the starting line-up. Charles Vernam beat Onana at his near post before Tyrell Warren capitalised when the former Inter Milan star failed to deal with a corner.
Amorim's side found their way back into the tie thanks to goals from Harry Maguire and Bryan Mbeumo. The latter was the figure to miss the crucial penalty in sudden death to bring the night to a close however.
Amorim was left questioning his team following the match. "If we don't show up, you can feel that something has to change and you are not going to change 22 players again," he said.
And similar questions may have seen, United make a change to their profile on X. In the hours afterwards, the message which once read: "Work hard and smile, you're at Manchester United!" was changed to: "The home of Manchester United."
The message that was replaced was a quote from former club receptionist Kath Phipps, who died in December 2014. Phipps was an iconic figure at the club who had worked at the club since the 1960s.
United's new rejuvinated Carrington training ground even bears the words, with a plaque acknowledging Phipps in place. The much-loved receptionist worked for United for 55 years and Sir Alex Ferguson, David Beckham, Roy Keane, Peter Schmeichel, Gary Neville and Bryan Robson all attended her funeral.
'The home of Manchester United' has previously been United's biography on social media.

Wednesday's victors have been able to have more fun on social media in the aftermath of their progression in the cup. The Mariners have been drawn against Sheffield Wednesday in the next round of the competition but had a message for United after their tense home win.
Grimsby's account admit shared an image on X that showed a banner displaying the words: "You've just been slapped by the fish". The text was joined by a fish on top of a black and white striped flag.
