Everton have made a late push to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler in the final days of the transfer window.

The Toffees are keen to add further reinforcements to David Moyes’ squad before Monday, with seven new arrivals already in place at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton signed Tyler Dibling from Southampton on 25 August, in a deal that could rise to £40million if all add-ons are met.

A striker could be among the next arrivals, with Youssef Chermiti in talks to join Rangers on loan in the coming days.

Moyes could also benefit from the signing of a new centre-back, after Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite suffered another hamstring injury.

Everton miss out on Carlos Soler after late attempt

Everton signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea at the start of August, but could still require another midfielder with James Garner currently filling in at left-back.

Soler emerged as an interesting option, with the 28-year-old available on loan from Paris Saint-Germain after spending last season at West Ham.

The Spain international made 33 appearances for the Hammers across all competitions, scoring a goal and providing an assist.

Soler is primarily a box-to-box midfielder, but can play both in a more attacking role and a more defensive one, which he did for West Ham.

The former Valencia man has decided to return to La Liga; however, Loic Tanzi reported on 28 August that Real Sociedad have agreed a loan with an option to buy for the midfielder.

Everton attempted to sign Soler, even attempting to turn the tide in their favour on Wednesday, 27 August, but the Spaniard has returned to his home country instead.

Everton provide trust in Harrison Armstrong

Harrison Armstrong spent the second half of last season on loan at Derby in the Championship and impressed.

And the 18-year-old has already made appearances in both the Premier League and the Carabao Cup for Everton this season.

Harrison Armstrong made 15 appearances for Derby, scoring one goal.

The midfielder played every single minute of the Championship side’s last 10 games.

Armstrong caught the eye on Wednesday when the Toffees hosted Mansfield Town, providing the assists for both of Everton’s goals in the 2-0 win.

The England youth international now looks to have established himself among Moyes’s options in midfield, with the lack of senior options set to allow plenty of opportunities.
