Burnley head coach Scott Parker is expected to recall a number of his key players for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Clarets beat Derby County 2-1 in the EFL Cup second round in midweek and Parker is likely to revert to a similar side to the one that secured a 2-0 win over Sunderland in the top flight last weekend.
Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, a summer signing from Newcastle who was on loan at Man United during the first half of the 2022-23 season, is set to return between the sticks at the expense of fellow new recruit Max Weiss, who made his debut in midweek.
Former Manchester City defender Kyle Walker is also expected to return and he could operate at right-back in a five-man defence, with Quilindschy Hartman set to be restored at left-back.
Bashir Humphreys built up his match fitness in midweek by playing for 45 minutes in defence, and he could be ready to start at centre-back against Man United alongside Maxime Esteve and Hjalmar Ekdal.
Hannibal Mejbri, who was on the books at Man United for five years before joining Burnley last summer, is pushing to return in midfield and could be deployed on the right, with Lesley Ugochukwu and Josh Cullen the most likely duo to link arms in the centre as Jaidon Anthony plays on the left.
While both Cullen and Anthony were on the scoresheet against Sunderland, striker Lyle Foster is yet to open his account for the new season, but the South African is expected to continue leading the line, even though both Zian Flemming and Armando Broja are both pushing for a start in attack.
Burnley possible starting lineup: Dubravka; Walker, Humphreys, Esteve, Ekdal, Hartman; Mejbri, Ugochukwu, Cullen, Anthony; Foster
