The last few days have seen the transfer window accelerate for clubs in the Championship, and Southampton have not escaped the increase in pace.
Mateus Fernandes is set to join West Ham United, clearing the way for the Saints to sign Casper Jander from FC Nuremberg for £10.5m plus add-ons.
Finn Azaz is also on his way to St. Mary’s as Will Still looks to put his side’s underwhelming start to the campaign behind them.
However, finding the correct replacement for Tyler Dibling is at the top of the list for Southampton in the remaining days of the transfer window. Now, that player has been found.
Southampton close in on signing Tom Fellows from West Brom
Still is in need of a quality winger following Dibling’s departure to Everton, and instead of looking to the division above for that player, he has looked to a league rival in the form of West Brom.

As per Pete O’Rourke, Southampton are closing in on the signing of Baggies ace Tom Fellows, with the 22-year-old set for a medical in Hampshire.
An academy graduate at West Brom, Fellows will sign a four-year deal with the Saints after appearing in all three of his current side’s Championship fixtures this season, registering one assist.
In the 2024/25 campaign, Fellows scored four goals and picked up 14 assists in 45 league games as the Baggies missed out on a play-off spot following a really poor end to the year.
Tom Fellows was once a target for Everton
Dibling’s move to Everton has been one of the most talked about transfer sagas in the Championship this summer, and the timing of it has meant that Southampton have had to move quickly to find a replacement.
However, for Fellows, he has been in a similar position to the teenager on several occasions this year, with the Toffees regularly having him on their radar.

Fabrizio Romano reported in January that the Premier League side were monitoring his progress at West Brom, and earlier this month Fellows was seen as the ideal alternative to Dibling.
But, with Premier League experience already and more versatility in his play, the 19-year-old proved to be too good an option for Everton to turn down, and instead they did all their scouting for Southampton, who will benefit greatly from their soon-to-be new signing.
