PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Arizona Cardinals have some fresh, new fits as they take gridiron against familiar foes this season.
As part of the NFL’s new “Rivalries” series, the Red Birds debuted new desert-themed uniforms. The jerseys have a “sandstorm” look to them, with speckled flakes dotting the tan look. Other details include touches of copper along the kit, including outlining the jersey number and Arizona’s state flag.
The helmets complete the “sandblasted” look while also paying tribute to State 48, featuring a 3D bird head logo with a copper beak.
The Cardinals and our NFC West rivals are among the first wave of eight teams participating in the new series. Fans can see the new jerseys on display on Sept. 25, when the Cardinals host the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football, also marking the first rivalry game.
“The design elements of the Cardinals ”Rivalries" uniforms reflect the strength and toughness required to thrive in the desert and celebrate the passion and perseverance that define us. Coincidentally, a couple days ago so many people saw the power, speed and ferocity of the Arizona sandstorm that is such an integral part of our “Rivalries” uniform design and a fitting metaphor for our identity as a team and a region," said Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill.
“Rivalries” jerseys and apparel will be available for fans to purchase online and in-store at the Cardinals team shop and Scheel’s beginning Sept. 10.
