Tottenham, West Ham ponder swap deal for £25m outcast, key playmaker; talks fail

Tottenham and West Ham United reportedly held talks over a potential swap deal involving Yves Bissouma and Lucas Paqueta.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, talks have failed between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, and a swap deal involving Yves Bissouma and Lucas Paqueta is unlikely to happen.

Bissouma has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, and he will likely join Galatasaray before the summer transfer window shuts down. He was quite underwhelming for Tottenham last season, and Tottenham are ready to cash in on the player.

Thomas Frank has recently criticised the player for his unprofessionalism as well. He does not have a future at the North London club, and he has been linked with multiple clubs in recent weeks. And his next destination will be Galatasaray

West Ham could certainly have used someone like Bissouma, and they have shown interest in him. It will be interesting to see if they decide to make a move for the player. The Mali international has shown his quality in the Premier League, and he could make an instant impact at West Ham. A fresh start could be ideal for the player.

On the other hand, Paqueta has been linked with top clubs in recent seasons. He has been outstanding for West Ham since joining the club. There is no doubt that he has the quality to improve Tottenham as well. He will add work rate, creativity, and technical ability to the squad.

Spurs could Paqueta

Tottenham need more depth in the middle of the park, and the Brazilian could be the ideal acquisition for them. Paqueta is at the peak of his career, and he will look to join a big club where he will be able to fight for trophies. He has clearly outgrown West Ham. They will not be able to help him fulfil his ambitions, and it would make sense for the South American to move on and join a bigger club.

It remains to be seen whether both clubs can work out a deal that benefits them both. Meanwhile, the Tottenham midfielder, who cost the North London club £25 million, will look to get his career back on track with regular football and staying in London could be an appealing option for him. West Ham could be the ideal opportunity as he looks to play more often.
