Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho has moved to within touching distance of being given the green light to walk away from Old Trafford as Chelsea are on the verge of agreeing a deal which will see him embark on a fresh challenge at Stamford Bridge, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed on the latest episode of our Market Madness podcast.
Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim warned the Argentina international that he needed to head through the exit door in May, having fallen out with the tactician, and Blues boss Enzo Maresca has been prepared to hand him a route out of his current surroundings ahead of the summer transfer window slamming shut.
Chelsea have maintained a strong relationship with Premier League counterparts Manchester United, despite paying a £5million penalty fee after deciding against keeping Jadon Sancho on a permanent basis at the end of last season, and they are seeking to get the deal for Garnacho over the line.
Garnacho Edging Towards West London Move
Alejandro Garnacho in action for Manchester United
Manchester United and Chelsea are close to an agreement over a deal which will see Garnacho head to west London, according to GMS sources, after influential figures behind the scenes held positive discussions on Wednesday as they aim to find a resolution before Monday's 7pm deadline.
The wide forward has made it clear that he is only interested in joining the Blues as he seeks to get his career back on track after being frozen out by Red Devils tactician Amorim, leading to there being a belief that it is only a matter of time before he is given permission to move to the capital.
GMS sources have been informed that Garnacho - who recorded 21 goal involvements during the 2024/25 campaign - has already negotiated personal terms with Chelsea and has been waiting for the switch all summer, while a fee in the region of £40million is expected to be enough to satisfy Manchester United even though they initially wanted £50million.
Alejandro Garnacho's statistics for Manchester United this season
The 21-year-old has not been training with the Red Devils' first-team, highlighting the fact that he will be starved of regular game time if he remains at Old Trafford, but he has still been turning down advances from other admirers due to his desire to become the latest addition to Maresca's squad.
Chelsea have given Christopher Nkunku the go-ahead to join Serie A heavyweights AC Milan in a deal worth up to £36.2million if all add-ons are triggered, GMS sources have learned, and his departure should allow the Club World Cup winners to formalise their move to lure Garnacho away from Manchester United.
Delayed Offer for Garnacho Had Been Planned

GMS sources have been told that Chelsea have left their move for Garnacho until the final days of the transfer window as it has allowed them to focus on outgoings and there has also been confidence that they have an improved chance of being able to persuade Manchester United to accept a cut-price offer.
Although the former Atletico Madrid trainee still has three years remaining on his £50,000-per-week contract, meaning that his current employers are not under pressure to cash in, the Blues are adamant that they can use his exile from the Red Devils' squad to their advantage before the fast-approaching deadline.
Chelsea are working on offloading Nicolas Jackson and Tyrique George, who is valued at £26million and became Roma's top winger target after Manchester United's Jadon Sancho snubbed a switch, while GMS sources understand that RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons and Barcelona's Fermin Lopez are additional targets alongside Garnacho.
The South American may not prove to be the only exit from Old Trafford in the coming days as GMS sources recently revealed that up-and-coming talent Ethan Williams has been the subject of a loan offer from Croatian side HNK Rijeka as he goes in search of continuing his development.
