After declining his player option with the Denver Nuggets, Westbrook appears to be in a situation where few teams are interested in signing the former superstar.
The Sacramento Kings were considered one of the few potential destinations for Westbrook, but recent updates suggest he could enter the season without a team.
According to NBA writer Sam Amick, the Kings are not expected to sign Westbrook, and the only way they could do so would be by trading a guard.
“More specifically, the odds of a Russell Westbrook signing go up if they know they’re completely out on Kuminga (though they aren’t expected to make that move unless they can free up rotation space by trading a guard),” Amick reports.
Currently, Kings guard Malik Monk has been linked to a potential trade that could clear the way for Westbrook’s signing.
Sacramento reportedly planned to use Westbrook as the team’s sixth man, backing up new addition Dennis Schroder.
