Newcastle United are closing in on a deal to sign Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade, according to Craig Hope.
The Magpies have been keen to add a striker to their squad all summer after allowing Callum Wilson to depart at the end of his contract, while star man Alexander Isak is currently on striker and refusing to play as he looks to push through a move to Liverpool.
Eddie Howe has been targeting a number of strikers all summer, but so far they have been unable to find an agreement. But that could be about to change.
Newcastle 'Closing In' on Woltemade Deal
Nick Woltemade
Woltemade, who shone for the Germany Under-21 team during the European Championships this summer, has become one of the standout striker prospects in Europe.
His performances in the Bundesliga in 2024/25 saw him net 12 goals in 28 appearances for Stuttgart, and that attracted the attention of domestic champions Bayern Munich. Vincent Kompany's side have seen several bids rejected during the transfer window and now look set to move on to alternative targets.
That has opened the door for Newcastle to swoop in and begin talks with Woltemade and his club, and sources in Germany have told the Daily Mail that they are 'closing in' on a deal to sign the 23-year-old.
