Wolves face Everton in the Premier League next up on Saturday. Following a midweek victory over West Ham in the Carabao Cup at Molineux, the West Midlands side will be aiming to build upon this performance and pick up their first lot of points in the league.
Norwegian international JorgenStrand Larsen**** has been a hot topic as of late, with Newcastle United having two bids for the forward rejected at the time of writing.
Strand Larsen came on as a substitute against the Hammers, and scored two goals in two minutes, proving why Wolves are adamant to keep him. He did not look short of confidence, despite strong interest from the Champions League side.
It is reported that the striker is keen to join Newcastle, but it is still happy to stay at Molineux. The way he conducted himself in midweek was extremely professional and he did not have the attitude of someone who wants to leave.
If Strand Larsen is still with Wolves this weekend, he will need to continue to show the same spirit and desire, and he will most likely find himself on the scoresheet once again for his side.
His ability to hold up the ball and get on the end of chances, makes him almost an old-fashioned number nine, which is exactly what Vitor Pereira needs up front to finish off any chances made by the creative players he is surrounded by.
New signing Jhon Arias created the most chances at the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, and there is no doubt that Strand Larsen will be given plenty of opportunities in and around the box from his Colombian teammate.
Which wingbacks will start?
There has been lots of discussion recently as to which wingbacks should start for Wolves.
After the departures of key players Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nelson Semedo, there was lots of pressure on the club to find suitable replacements in these positions.
**David Moller Wolfe**has not impressed hugely since his arrival from AZ Alkmaar, whereas the returning Hugo Bueno has looked much more dynamic in that left wing-back position. It looks as if the Spaniard will start once again in order to inject pace and creativity down the left hand side.
On the right hand side, there is no question as to who will start. Following Ki-Jana Hoever's injury against Bournemouth, new signing Jackson Tchatchoua came on for his debut and looked good.
He was brought on again midweek against West Ham and lifted fans off their seats with his blistering pace and accurate crossing, and looks to have now solidified a starting spot in Vitor Pereira's lineup.
His pace allowed Wolves to be more direct with their passing, and exploit space in behind; something that Pereira has looked to achieve in his style of play.
Change in formation?
In the victory over West Ham, Vitor Pereira opted for a change in setup after his substitutions, with the Portuguese coach switching from his natural 3-4-3, to a 3-4-1-2. **Jhon Arias**sat in a central number 10 role behind Strand Larsen and Sasa Kalajdzic.
Wolves struggled to work the ball into the box, but the change in shape helped to solve this issue. With both Strand Larsen and Kalajdzic up top, this forced the Hammers to throw extra men in defence.
The two tall target men in the box caused havoc as they were given plenty of service into the box from the wingbacks. When the ball was cleared, either one of **Andre**or Joao Gomes would lurk on the edge of the box and press instantly to win the ball back and recycle possession back into the area.
Pereira could look to use this again in order to score more goals and add more danger into the opposition area.
Kalajdzic has had limited game time over the last two years since signing due to repeated ACL injuries, and so Wolves will need to take caution with him if he is to be used going forward.
