Doris Burke Out as NBA Finals Analyst

ESPN has replaced color analyst Doris Burke with former player Tim Legler for NBA Finals broadcasts. Andrew Marchand of The Athletic [had the news this morning](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6581644/2025/08/28/doris-burke-tim-legler-nba-finals-espn-broadcast/). Burke had served on the network’s lead broadcast team with play-by-play broadcaster Mike Breen since 2023. She served as the first female color analyst for the Conference Finals and NBA Finals in the history of the league.

Burke [received criticism for her broadcasting style](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/news/doris-burke-espn-controversy-explained-analysts-future/36217ed3be39a850d24d502d) during the 2025 NBA Finals. She is generally well-regarded, however. She received the 2018 Curt Gowdy Media Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, given annually to outstanding basketball writers and broadcasters.
