NEWCASTLE United will host Barcelona in a mouthwatering repeat of the 1997 classic between the sides in this season's Champions League.

And the Magpies will also travel to face defending champions PSG in the league phase of this year's competition.

Eddie Howe's side discovered their eight league stage opponents on Thursday night, though confirmation of dates for the fixtures won't come until Saturday.

From pot two, Newcastle will host Benfica at St James' Park and travel to Germany to face Bayer Leverkusen.

United's two other home games will be against PSV and Athletic Club, and they also face trips to France to face Marseille and Belgium to play Union Saint-Gilloise,
