**Newcastle United have broken their transfer record to sign a striker to replace Alexander Isak - at least according to Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg.**
Whether or not it's an actual done deal remains to be seen, but Plettenberg and other journalists from Germany are claiming that the deal has been done, while [Craig Hope has echoed those reports](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-15043751/Newcastle-close-Nick-Woltemade-deal-unlock-Alexander-Isak-Liverpool-transfer-HUGE-fee-revealed.html), albeit with slightly less conviction.
The striker in question is 23-year-old Nick Woltemade, who at one point looked destined for Bayern Munich this summer after an outstanding run of form in the Under-21 European Championships.
The 6'6" striker is reportedly heading to Tyneside for a medical with a deal of €85 million plus €5 million in add-ons (around £75 million) said to have been struck.

Newcastle have struck a deal in the shadows yet again
-----------------------------------------------------
Woltemade was a striker who would have featured on our wishlist after his performances for Germany U21S this summer, but for the longest time, the Stuttgart striker looked Bayern-bound.
That deal fell apart, and everything went quiet around Woltemade for a while, and then, suddenly, today, Plettenberg announced on X that the deal was done.

Newcastle signing Nick Woltemade will be a huge statement
---------------------------------------------------------
This would be a massive coup for Newcastle, not just in terms of the fee involved, but Nick Woltemade is regarded as one of the best young strikers out there right now.
He'd be the ideal replacement for Alexander Isak, and if this goes through and Newcastle land one of Yoane Wissa or Jorgen Strand Larsen, then we could see Isak finally leaving.
This is a proper Newcastle United signing, completely under the radar until it's about done. It's how we did it with Isak and Sandro Tonali, so we're willing to believe the stories. But of course, we don't want to get too carried away until Woltemade is spotted on Tyneside.
