Newcastle United are set to be without five players for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Leeds United at Elland Road.
While Liverpool target Alexander Isak remains unavailable for selection, Anthony Gordon will serve a three-match suspension following his straight red card in Monday’s**3-2 home defeat** to the reigning Premier League champions.
Eddie Howe is also set to be without Fabian Schar (concussion), Joelinton (groin) and Sandro Tonali (shoulder), who were all forced off with issues in the defeat to Liverpool.
In the expected absence of Schar, summer signing Malick Thiaw could be handed his full debut at centre-back. Sven Botman is also in contention to start in defence alongside Dan Burn, while Kieran Trippier and Tino Livramento are the most likely duo to start as full-backs.
In midfield, new arrival Jacob Ramsey is expected to be handed his first Newcastle start, and Lewis Miley could also feature in the middle of the pitch next to captain Bruno Guimaraes, who scored in the defeat to Liverpool.
Will Osula came off the substitutes’ bench to score a late equaliser on Monday and he could be rewarded with a start up front, while Anthony Elanga and Harvey Barnes are set to continue on the flanks - Barnes has scored five goals in six Premier League games against Leeds.
Newcastle United possible starting lineup: Pope; Trippier, Thiaw, Burn, Livramento; Miley, Guimaraes, Ramsey; Elanga, Osula, Barnes
