Malik Nabers Gets Honest About Relationship With Russell Wilson

The New York Giants hope to have their best offensive player on the field for the season opener.

Malik Nabers missed plenty of time in the offseason because of a toe injury.

He reportedly played through it in his rookie season, as it started bothering him in his final year in college.

Of course, missing crucial reps with your new quarterback is far from ideal.

Nevertheless, he’s not too worried about that.

When asked about his chemistry with Russell Wilson, the second-year wideout sounded confident in their ability to get everything rolling as the season goes by:

“We’ve been on the same page a lot,” Nabers said. “That connection is going to keep growing. It can never be as great as we want it to be, but it’s going to be as good as we hope it’s going to be. But we continue to still get work, try to get those catches in and out. But the relationship has been going good.”

The Giants will start the season with Wilson at the helm, but that doesn’t mean that he’ll finish the year as the starter.

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart looked like a star in the making in the preseason, and he seemed to be slightly ahead of schedule in his development.

The Giants have talked about taking things slowly with the rookie out of Ole Miss, but if Wilson struggles like he’s done since he left the Seattle Seahawks, they might be tempted – or forced – to reconsider that stance.

As for Nabers, he’s coming off logging one of the most impressive rookie seasons by any wide receiver in recent history.

He seems poised to be yet another former LSU wide receiver who will dominate defensive backs for years to come, just like Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase.

And if he put up those numbers with Daniel Jones, Tommy DeVito, and Drew Lock, the fans shouldn’t have much to be worried about right now.
