The blockbuster Man City and Real Madrid transfer swap deal that would spark Liverpool meltdown …

Manchester City have emerged as a potential next destination in England for an ex-Liverpool star

Manchester City are aiming to get their hands back on the Premier League trophy this season. Pep Guardiola’s side under-performed by their standards in the last campaign. Nevertheless, they still managed to get into the Champions League.

City have been busy on the recruitment front this summer and have freshened up their squad. They still have the chance to get some more deals done in this window over the coming days. The window shuts on Monday 1st September at 7pm.

Manchester City admirers of Trent Alexander-Arnold

City are keeping an eye on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s situation at Real Madrid, according to Caught Offside. The England international, who has 34 caps under his belt for the Three Lions, has apparently struggled to settle in Spain. Therefore, his long-term future in La Liga is up in the air right now.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, was snapped up by the European giants on a free transfer following the end of his contract at Anfield. He has since made two competitive appearances so far. However, he hasn’t set the world alight yet and has some work to do as he looks to show his new fan-base what he is capable of.

As with any player from abroad, it takes time for people to settle in new countries. People are too quick to judge and the player will still be adapting to life in a new culture. There is a lot of pressure to win at Real Madrid though and they will expect him to perform to his best immediately under Xabi Alonso.

If he is to leave at some point down the line, a switch to City would certainly raise eyebrows. It would also likely frustrate the Liverpool supporters. He rose up through the academy ranks of the Merseyside outfit and was a regular for them at various different youth levels. The full-back then broke into their first-team and became a key player.

Alexander-Arnold went on to play 354 games in all competitions for his boyhood club. He managed to score 23 goals, four of which came in the last campaign. The Liverpool-born man went on to win the league title, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup before deciding to test himself abroad.

Manchester City should propose Real Madrid swap deal

In an attempt to lure Alexander-Arnold back to his native country, City should offer them a player plus cash as part of a swap deal. Savinho has seemingly fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium. He has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur over recent times.

A change of scene to Madrid may well do him good and provide him with a fresh start. The 21-year-old started his career at Atletico Mineiro and play 35 games as a teenager, scoring two goals. He then departed for Europe.

City Group members Troyes snapped him up in 2022 but he never made a senior appearance for the French club. Instead, he was loaned out to PSV and Girona to get some experience under his belt and boost his development. He was a hit during his time with the latter and scored 11 goals in 41 matches before City swooped in for him around 12 months ago.

Savinho has played 48 matches for Guardiola’s side altogether and has found the net on three occasions. Despite his lack of goals, he still enjoyed plenty of game time with the 2024 champions. However, it remains to be seen at this stage whether he will be staying or moving on for a fresh start. Real Madrid would be a smart switch and an exciting challenge to sink his teeth into.

Savinho is still very young and has bags of potential to improve down the line. He is someone who likes to cut in from the right on his left foot and if he can find some more consistency, he could be a force to be reckoned with. Alonso would probably be able to get the best out of him as well, just like he did with the likes of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong at Bayer Leverkusen.
