Reds perform U-turn and Arne Slot is ready to finalise two deals: Thursday's Liverpool transfer round-up

Liverpool still have a few days left of the summer transfer window.

Arne Slot and Richard Hughes have already spent a lot of money trying to improve the Reds’ first-team squad and, while some arrivals have taken like ducks to water, others still need time to settle in.

However, since there is still time for deals to be struck and for areas to be strengthened, the Anfield outfit may choose to use the transfer market before it slams shut.

Here, Rousing the Kop have collected three of the biggest transfer stories to have emerged from Anfield on Thursday, 28 August.

Liverpool spent an initial £69million to bring Hugo Ekitike to Anfield from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer.

The striker was of interest to several teams across the globe, with fellow Premier League side Newcastle among the most interested.

In the end, however, the Frenchman chose to carry on his career with Liverpool, and now, the Reds could be looking to sign yet another striker from his old club next summer.

That is, according to a report from Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele, who shared that Liverpool are now keeping an eye on 19-year-old Can Uzun.

The striker managed to contribute to three goals in his first game with Steele’s sources stating that he’s ‘one to watch.’

Liverpool are now willing to allow Kostas Tsimikas to exit Anfield on loan

One area of Liverpool’s squad that has had some major changes thus far is their defence.

It was clear last season that plenty of changes would need to be made due to the poor form of Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, as well as the transfer of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid.

And now, as per a report from Fabrizio Romano, Tsimikas is the next player who’s likely to leave Liverpool.

Initially, Slot wanted a permanent deal for the Greek Scouser, but now, they’ve made a U-turn and would be willing to accept a season-long loan to allow Milos Kerkez and Robertson to battle it out for the starting spot.

Liverpool are waiting for Newcastle and Crystal Palace to sign replacements

The main transfer stories to have dominated Liverpool’s summer window have been where the futures of Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi lie.

The duo have long been linked with an Anfield switch, and now that we’re entering the latter stages of the window, things need to fall into place as soon as possible.

And, as per a report from Florian Plettenberg, it seems like all the Reds are now waiting for is for both Premier League teams to sign replacements for their star men.

Agreements have already been reached with both players, and as soon as their replacements are announced, Slot and Hughes are ready to swoop in.
