Real Madrid vs Mallorca - prediction, team news, lineups

Real Madrid will be aiming to make it three straight wins at the start of their 2025-26 La Liga campaign when they welcome Mallorca to Bernabeu on Saturday night.

Los Blancos have beaten Osasuna and Real Oviedo this term to collect six points, which has left them third in the La Liga table, while Mallorca are down in 16th, boasting only one point from their first two matches.

Match preview

Real Madrid struggled to get going in their opening match of their 2025-26 La Liga campaign against Osasuna on August 19, but they managed to get the job done courtesy of an effort from Kylian Mbappe.

Xabi Alonso's side experienced similar struggles against Real Oviedo last time out, but they managed to collect all three points courtesy of a 3-0 success, with Mbappe netting twice before Vinicius Junior struck in the latter stages.

Real Madrid are one of five La Liga teams - the other four being Villarreal, Barcelona, Getafe and Athletic Bilbao - to have maximum points from their first two matches, and the club's fans will be demanding another win ahead of the international break.

Los Blancos will know that the room for error this season is small due to Barcelona's quality, and it is shaping up to be a fascinating race for the title, as Barcelona have so much firepower, but the Catalan outfit did concede twice in a five-goal thriller against Levante last weekend.

Real Madrid have won 46 of their previous 75 matches against Mallorca, and they beat Saturday's opponents twice last season, including a 2-1 success in the corresponding clash in La Liga at Bernabeu.

Mallorca, meanwhile, opened their La Liga season with a 3-0 defeat to Barcelona, and they had two players sent off in the first half of that match, so it was a very tough start to the season.

Jagoba Arrasate's side did manage to claim a point at home to Celta Vigo last time out, but an 87th-minute effort from Mateu Morey was required to secure a share of the spoils in front of their own supporters.

The Pirates have one point to show from their first two matches of the season, which has left them in 16th spot in the table, but a win over Real Madrid this weekend would propel them up the division ahead of the international break.

Mallorca finished 10th in La Liga last season, only four points off the European spots, and there is certainly enough quality in their squad to push for a European finish this term.

The visitors last beat Real Madrid in February 2023, but they have not managed to win an away fixture against Los Blancos in the top flight of Spanish football since May 2009.

Team News

Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham on February 19, 2025

Real Madrid will again be without the services of Jude Bellingham, Endrick, Ferland Mendy and Eduardo Camavinga for their final match before the September international break, but Alonso has no fresh injury concerns.

The Spaniard could therefore name the same side that took to the field for the first whistle against Real Oviedo, but there is expected to be a change in the final third of the field, with Vinicius likely to come in for Rodrygo.

Dani Carvajal could again be given the nod over Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, while Antonio Rudiger is bidding to keep hold of the centre-back role alongside Dean Huijsen at the expense of Eder Militao.

As for Mallorca, Vedat Muriqi and Manu Morlanes will be back in the squad after serving suspensions last time out, and the pair are expected to be in the starting side.

Pablo Torre is a new signing at Mallorca, arriving from Barcelona earlier this summer, and the Spaniard is set to operate in the number 10 position for the away side this weekend.

Sergi Darder and Toni Lato are also set to keep their spots, with the latter potentially being used in a midfield area.

Real Madrid possible starting lineup:

Courtois; Carvajal, Rudiger, Huijsen, Carreras; Valverde, Tchouameni, Guler; Mastantuono, Mbappe, Vinicius

Mallorca possible starting lineup:

Roman; Kumbulla, Raillo, Valjent; Morlanes, Darder, Lato, Mojica; Torre; Muriqi, Asano

We say: Real Madrid 2-1 Mallorca

This has the potential to be a tough match for Real Madrid, as Mallorca have a lot of quality, and they will fancy their chances of becoming the first team to score against Alonso's side this season. That said, Los Blancos should still be able to navigate their way to a third straight league success this term.
