Leeds United play host to Newcastle United in their third game of the season on Saturday.
Off the back of Leeds’ Carabao Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, attentions turn back to Elland Road for the next Premier League encounter.
Leeds host Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, who haven’t had the best of starts to the season themselves and will be looking to put that right.
Daniel Farke is expected to make a whole host of changes to his Leeds 11 from the recent defeat, with hopes of getting back to winning ways.

Newcastle favourites for Elland Road encounter
Given the gulf in quality and finances between the two sides, it will not come as a surprise to see Newcastle emerge as favourites for Saturday’s game.

As per Opta, the Magpies have a 44.7 per cent chance of taking all three points away from the Whites, while Leeds have just a 29.5 per cent chance of tasting victory.
However, one thing that the supercomputer fails to take into account is home advantage, and Leeds certainly have plenty of that at Elland Road.
It was electric for Leeds’ opening-day victory against Everton, and if that atmosphere can be replicated this weekend, there could be an upset on the cards.
With that said, Leeds will need to improve on their last two showings significantly, albeit against what is expected to be a weakened Newcastle squad.

How have Leeds fared vs Newcastle in the past?
The first ever recorded meeting between Leeds and Newcastle was back in 1924, with a 1-1 draw at Elland Road.
Since then, there have been 99 encounters, with Newcastle coming out on top 40 times.
With that said, Newcastle have had the last laugh more recently, unbeaten in the last four, though only winning once.
That was back in 2022, when Jonjo Shelvey scored in the final 15 minutes to secure a 1-0 away victory for Rafa Benitez’s side.
