Jack Grealish massively impressed in his first Everton appearance at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the Premier League last week.

Everton signed Grealish on a season-long loan from Manchester City, with an option to buy also included in the deal.

The midfielder was the subject of interest from several clubs this summer, but was attracted to the opportunity to play under David Moyes.

Everton beat Brighton 2-0 on Sunday, with Grealish producing a performance that left Wayne Rooney in awe in Merseyside.

The midfielder bagged two assists and worked hard defensively as the Toffees earned their first three points of the season.

Jack Grealish ‘desperate’ for place in England squad

Grealish is already a fan favourite at Everton, where he aims to rediscover the form he showed before his move to Manchester City in 2021.

The Aston Villa academy product bagged six goals and provided 12 assists in the Premier League for the Villans, leading to his £100million move to Pep Guardiola’s team.

However, the change in tactics at City worked to stifle Grealish’s impact, ultimately leading to his eventual exclusion from the England team.

But with Thomas Tuchel now at the helm, the midfielder hopes to play his way back into contention ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Matt Law reported on 28 August that Grealish is “desperate” for a recall to the England team ahead of Friday’s squad announcement for games against Andorra and Serbia.

Tuchel’s assistant, Anthony Barry, was in attendance at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the Brighton clash, with the 28-year-old’s performance surely catching his eye.

Jack Grealish can prove his importance to England

Even if Grealish is not selected for September’s international games, the midfielder will have plenty of opportunities to twist Tuchel’s arm before next summer.

International breaks are also set for October and November, with plenty of players hoping to prove their ability to the German.

International breaks 2025/26:

September: 1-9

October: 6-14

November: 10-18

March: 23-31

Grealish does provide a quality perhaps lacking from the former Bayern Munich boss’s options, however.

The Everton man boasts a maverick style quality that can see him unpick even the trickiest locks, with his ability to drive towards defenders and pass them.

With Tuchel hoping to lead England to their first World Cup victory since 1966, that is a quality he will surely be looking to take to North America.
