Patrick Bamford with Pablo Hernandez and Liam Cooper looking shocked in the circles
Patrick Bamford has announced that he is leaving Leeds United after seven years in West Yorkshire.
Towards the end of his stint with Leeds, Bamford struggled for form, and it always looked like a move away this summer was on the cards.
However, supporters won’t forget the striker’s memorable moments at Elland Road, including the Premier League campaign in which he shocked everyone as he netted 17 goals.
Under Marcelo Bielsa, Bamford was a different class, and some of his teammates from the incredible era have sent him emotional messages after he announced his exit.

Liam Cooper and Pablo Hernandez send emotional messages to Bamford
Supporters won’t forget Bielsa’s iconic team, with Pablo Hernandez and Mateusz Klich among those putting the ball on a plate for Bamford.
Former captain Liam Cooper also helped the Peacocks keep 22 clean sheets during the 2019/20 season when they were promoted to the Premier League.
Records set by Bielsa in the 2019/20 season:
Most Wins: Their 28 league victories set a new club record for the most wins in a single league season at the time (beaten, 29, 2024/25)
Most Away Wins: The team also set a new club record with 13 away wins
Most Points: The 93 points they accumulated were the most the club had ever achieved in a season (beaten, 100, 2024/25)
After Bamford announced his exit, the trio were immediately in his Instagram comments.
Klich wrote: “Good luck, Pat! It’s always been a pleasure to assist you,” joined by yellow and blue heart emojis.
Cooper also commented: “My number nine, Be proud brother. Pleasure sharing those years with you.”
The team became inseparable on and off the pitch, which has been shown by the reception the post has gotten, turning emotional in all corners.
Hernandez was a key provider for Bamford during their time on the pitch together as he assisted nine of the forward’s goals across the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons.
The Spaniard commented on Bamford’s post: “All the best, my friend! Top player! It’s been a pleasure playing with you!”

Where to next for Patrick Bamford?
Bamford’s contract was terminated by mutual consent, meaning he is now free to talk to other clubs.
Bamford was offered to multiple Championship clubs this summer, though nothing has materialised.
However, a move to the second tier still seems the most likely option for the 31-year-old, who has shown before that he can score goals.
If he can rediscover his old form, he would be a valuable asset for any Championship side, but it appears likely that he will join a lower or midtable side.
