Liverpool’s focus in the final days of the summer transfer window is on Newcastle United star Alexander Isak.

The Reds have had the Swede on their wish list since before the window even began, and they are really keen to sign him.

Isak is desperate to join Liverpool as well and has refused to train at Newcastle. He has even released a public statement, claiming that a move away from St James’ Park is the best thing for both parties.

TBR Football exclusively revealed that Liverpool will table another bid for Isak. But if they don’t get him, they have another target in mind.

Liverpool could make a move for Rodrygo Goes if they can’t sign Alexander Isak

Newcastle United have still not given up on keeping hold of Alexander Isak.

The Toon’s stance since the start of the summer transfer window has been that their star striker is not for sale and that he will not be allowed to leave the club.

Newcastle’s owners held talks with Isak on Monday, prior to their game against Liverpool, but that meeting did not go well.

No resolution was found, and with Newcastle not close to signing any other striker, there is a good chance that Isak’s route to Liverpool will be blocked.

The Reds are aware that they could miss out on the Swede, so GiveMeSport have claimed that Liverpool are ‘tempted’ to make a deadline day move to sign Rodrygo Goes of Real Madrid instead.

The Premier League champions have had the Brazilian on their radar for many years, and they were linked with a move to sign him earlier in this window as well.

The report claims that Rodrygo is only being viewed by Liverpool as an alternative to Isak, which means they would like to sign one or the other – not both.

How Arne Slot feels about potentially missing out on Alexander Isak

Arne Slot has been tight-lipped every time he has been asked about the Isak to Liverpool links, but it is no secret that he would like to sign him.

The Swede was the best striker in the Premier League last season, and many feel Liverpool will become unstoppable if they get him this summer.

However, GMS claim that securing an out-and-out striker has become less of a necessity for Slot because of Hugo Ekitike’s brilliant start to life as a Red.

The Liverpool boss would still love Isak, but missing out on him would not be the end of the world.

Rodrygo, who Luka Modric once hailed as one of Real Madrid’s ‘world-class superstars’ (GSFN), would be a great alternative.
