Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen is expected to start at home to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, despite intensifying rumours surrounding his future at the club.

Strand Larsen came off the bench to score twice late on to send Wolves through to EFL Cup third round on Tuesday in a 3-2 win over West Ham United, just days after a £50m bid from Newcastle United for the Norwegian was rejected.

In the days leading up to this game, Strand Larsen has expressed his desire to join Newcastle before the deadline next week, but the club are holding firm, and with no official transfer request being submitted, he is still set to be available.

After already losing Matheus Cunha this summer, and with Fabio Silva moving to Borussia Dortmund, Wolves would need to act very quickly if they did sanction a move, with so little time left in the window to find a replacement.

More recruitments are expected to arrive over the next week, but one who has already arrived could have a chance to express himself on the Premier League stage here, as Jhon Arias starred in the midweek win.

Arias was only a sub against Manchester City on the opening day, and he was sacrificed following Toti’s red card last weekend, playing less than an hour, but he was afforded more time in midweek, and stood out in their 3-2 win.

Toti served his suspension for that red card in the cup tie in midweek, so he will be available for selection again, and could come straight back into the XI.

Ki-Jana Hoever is a doubt with a knee injury, but he was never expected to be the long-term choice at right wing-back, especially after the signing of Jackson Tchatchoua, who could make his full debut here.

Tchatchoua was only a substitute again in midweek, but that could suggest he was being kept back in order to start here, because Joao Gomes, Marshall Munetsi and David Moller Wolfe were also on the bench from the outset on Tuesday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers possible starting lineup:

Jose Sa; Doherty, Agbadou, Toti; Tchatchoua, Joao Gomes, Andre, Wolfe; Munesti, Strand Larsen, Arias
