Chelsea agree£40 million deal for Man United star

Chelsea welcome West London rivals Fulham to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Enzo Maresca has overseen a draw and a victory from his side’s first two games of the new Premier League season, with the Blues currently sitting fourth in the top flight standings.

This summer has been a hectic one for the London side, with several incomings and outgoings having occurred either side of their triumph at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Now, it appears that Chelsea are closing in on yet another summer signing.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have reached an agreement to sign winger Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

He claims that the Argentine will travel to London on Friday to undergo a medical before signing his new contract with the Blues.

Chelsea will pay a fee in the region of £40 million to sign the 21-year-old, with United retaining a 10% sell-on clause in case he leaves Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho joined United from Spanish side Atletico Madrid in 2020, initially joining the Red Devils’ youth system before progressing into the first team.

He has been a regular for United over the past couple of seasons, making a total of 144 appearances for the club across all competitions.

During that time he has scored 26 goals and provided 22 assists, but he fell out of favour towards the end of last season and was left out of the starting line-up as United lost against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final in Bilbao.

The winger has been linked with a move to Chelsea for much of the summer, and it appears that he is now on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho will become Chelsea’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window so far.
