Oliver Glasner 'deeply hopes' Marc Guehi will remain a Crystal Palace player beyond the closure of the transfer window.

Liverpool have been monitoring the England international this summer, but Guehi played 90 minutes in Crystal Palace’s first European away game against Fredrikstad on Thursday night.

With only four days left in the transfer window, the Palace hierarchy remain open to selling Guehi, who is in the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park and has shown no interest in signing an extension.

Palace, who reached the League Phase of the Conference League with a goalless draw against Fredrikstad, have just three fit centre-backs in the squad.

Eagles boss Oliver Glasner hopes to have Guehi available for Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa, and repeated the same response when asked whether the 25-year-old would still be at Palace when the transfer window closes on Monday.

“Everybody can see how many players we have available,” said Glasner.

“Everybody can see how important Marc is, honestly, I don't know, but I really deeply hope Marc will play for us at Villa Park.

“I deeply hope that Marc will play until the end of the season for us.”

The Eagles are close to landing Yeremy Pino in a near £25 million move from Champions League Villarreal.

Pino, 22, travelled to London on Wednesday to wrap up his move to the South London club.

New signings must be registered by lunchtime on Friday to be involved at Villa Park on Sunday.

Glasner admitted that, despite the lack of time on the training pitch between games, Pino would be involved on Sunday if he is registered in time.

“I don't know what will happen. We have until 12 pm tomorrow to register a player.

“Every player signed before then will be in the squad. Maybe Will Hughes comes back, but nobody else.

“If we sign a player, it means they are in the rhythm – we wouldn’t sign a player who hasn't played for six months. If we sign a player, they will be in the squad at Aston Villa.”
