Besides being one of the most accomplished basketball players to ever lace them up, LeBron James also happens to be a diehard football fan. He was also a five-star player in high school.
That’s why the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is an authorized voice to share his thoughts and predictions ahead of the start of the NFL season. In a sitdown with DraftKings, he shared his picks for sleeper team, Super Bowl matchup, and MVP.
LeBron James Makes His Super Bowl, NFL MVP Predictions
When asked about the sleeper, James sided with his hometown Cleveland Browns. Kevin Stefanski’s team is coming off a three-win season, so not many people might be expecting them to do well:
“That’s a good question because I was right about the (Washington) Commanders being a sleeper team; they cannot be a sleeper team after last year, so, Cleveland Browns,” James said.
Then, the four-time NBA champion kept it simple with his Super Bowl prediction, as he thinks the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will meet for the second year in a row and third time in the last four years:
“Super Bowl prediction? I’m going Eagles-Chiefs again, man,” James said. “I mean, you got the best two teams, you got the best player in the NFL and Pat Mahomes, and I think he wants some get back, so I got Eagles-Chiefs.”
However, he knows better than to choose a winner right now:
“Nah, I got no winner right now,” James admitted. “But I hope it’s a good-(expletive) game, I’ll tell you that.”
Last but not least, James gave Lamar Jackson the nod as his MVP candidate, hoping the Baltimore Ravens star takes the award home for the third time in his career:
“My MVP of the year; this year I’m taking Lamar Jackson,” James said.
