Micah Parsons, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, who was just traded to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, August 28th, 2025.
The Dallas Cowboys made one of the biggest trades in the history of their franchise, when they sent former 12th overall pick and three-time All-Pro edge rusher, Micah Parsons, to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first round picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle, Kenny Clark, according to the team.
The Packers subsequently signed Parsons to a four year, $188 million deal with $136 million guaranteed, making the star edge rusher by far the highest paid non-quarterback in National Football League history.
And as the reactions start to flood in, one person who has injected himself into the conversation is former Cowboys quarterback, Ben DiNucci. Posting on X shortly after the trade was announced by NFL insiders, DiNucci took it upon himself to send a message to the organization’s fanbase.
Dear Cowboys fans..
Have a fun year.

DiNucci Trolls The Cowboys After Parsons Trade
“Dear Cowboys fans…Have a fun year. Ben”, wrote the James Madison alum on X on Thursday afternoon.
Ben DiNucci likely has both gratitude and some disdain for the team that both drafted and cut him over the span of a couple of years, after getting selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
And for a player who just got cut once more a few days ago, some welcome trolling of his old club was likely a good dose of what the doctor ordered.
The Cowboys have yet to speak out on the trade, outside of confirming it on X, but they have scheduled a press conference at 7.30 PM EST to discuss the day’s proceedings.
How Does This Leave Dallas’ Defense?
Certainly less strong than it was just at the beginning of the day on Thurdsay. Luckily for the Cowboys, they did have some legitimate depth at the defensive end position prior to trading Parsons, much of that being to due to having drafted the position in the second round in three out of the past four drafts.
2024 second round pick, Marshawn Kneeland and veteran end, Dante Fowler Jr., are set to start on the edge, per the team’s depth chart via ESPN. However, after Parsons’ departure, it would not be surprising to see Matt Eberflus’ defense resort to a committee-style rotation at the position that would also include seeing a lot of the likes of rookie, Donovan Ezeiraku and 2022 second round pick, Sam Williams.
The baseline point is that the Cowboys have lost their biggest and brightest star in Parsons; even if he occasionally disappeared at points in big games or fell to injury, he was still easily team’s best player on defense and remains a top five exterior pass rusher in the NFL.
The good news for Dallas is that the league is unpredictable and two first round picks is a lot for any team to give up – even one that is presumed to be successful year in, year out, like the Green Bay.
Only time will tell how this will ultimately turn out, but Dallas fans need to keep their eyes downfield and think about the future, rather than the current state of the defensive line.
