ESPN Analyst Offers Candid Take on Packers After Micah Parsons Trade

On Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys ended the Micah Parsons contract standoff by trading the pass rusher to the Green Bay Packers.

The Athletic reports that the Cowboys are receiving defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks from Green Bay. With Parsons joining their roster, the Packers immediately strengthen their lineup and position themselves as a legitimate NFC contender.

After the trade was reported, ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes shared her reaction on X, noting that the addition of Parsons significantly boosts the Packers' chances of making a Super Bowl run this season.

"I think this makes [the Packers] legit Super Bowl contenders," Kimes said in her reaction video. "Focusing on the defense, because I think that's an underrated story nationally, how much better they were last year under their new defensive coordinator, Jeff Hafley."

Moreover, Kimes went on to highlight how, without Parsons, Green Bay already had an impressive defense. Last season, the Packers as a team recorded 45 sacks, and now they are adding a guy who has no problem getting to the quarterback.

"Over the course of the season, [the Packers defense] finished seventh in DVOA, fourth in EPA per play, fifth in yards per play. Yes, they had a lot of turnovers, which tends to be something that regresses. But in the second half of the year, they also had a very good success rate, which suggests they were fundamentally sound, and they're also talented...

"Don't need to tell you how good Micah Parsons is. He's also most double-team player in football, so that's going to open up opportunities for everyone else. I've been saying all offseason, I think AFC is very top-heavy, but there's a cluster of teams, NFC, it's Philadelphia, and then a gap. To me, the Packers just vaulted themselves into that top tier. They are absolutely contenders to win it all."
