Nick Woltemade spotted at Tyneside hotel ahead of club record Newcastle United transfer

Newcastle United are set to complete the club record transfer of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.

Finally, a striker - and it looks like he might be about to become the Magpies’ next famous No.9. Newcastle United are set to complete the club record signing of Germany frontman Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for a fee in the region of £65million.

The forward flew in from his home town of Bremen on Thursday night to complete the formalities of the deal. It remains, at this stage, to be seen whether Woltemade, who turned down the chance to go to Bayern Munich in favour of Newcastle, is seen as a replacement for Callum Wilson, or wantaway, on striker, Alexander Isak.

Woltemade spotted on Tyneside - NewcastleWorld exclusive

On Thursday evening, NewcastleWorld exclusively captured footage of the 23-year-old arriving at a hotel on Tyneside. The footage can be watched at the top of the article.

He is seen to leave a Mercedes people carrier, straight from a flight that arrived at Newcastle Airport at around 9.30pm GMT, before being greeted by NUFC transfer chief Andy Howe and then being led into the unnamed hotel.

Newcastle now face a race against time to get the player registered in time for the weekend, with no recognised striker on the books. Woltemade must be registered before Noon on Friday.

NUFC transfers: Alexander Isak to Liverpool?

NewcastleWorld understands that while reports online have circulated that Isak could be involved at the weekend, the Swede again trained alone, away from his NUFC teammates, as he continues to try to force a move to Liverpool.

The fact he trained alone around 48 hours before Newcastle go to Elland Road suggests a reconciliation is no closer. In fact, due to the Woltemade deal happening, it could be common sense to suggest that makes Isak’s exit one step closer, with Newcastle now just waiting on a proper bid, not a lowball, from the Reds and potentially a replacement.
