'Enthused' Malacia discussing Man United exit to newly-promoted club

Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia is 'eager' to join a newly-promoted La Liga side on loan for the coming season, according to a report.

The Netherlands international has been relegated to the Red Devils' 'bomb squad' under Ruben Amorim, joining Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho in the club's group of ostracised players.

Malacia was not even called upon for Wednesday's shock EFL Cup second-round exit at the hands of Grimsby Town, and the writing has been on the wall for the left-back at Old Trafford for some time now.

Patrick Dorgu, Luke Shaw and new signing Diego Leon are all ahead of Malacia in the left-back pecking order, while 18-year-old Harry Amass has also broken into the first team over the past several months.

As a result, Malacia's exit before Monday's 7pm transfer deadline is seen as an inevitability, and according to Voetbal International, Man United are in talks to loan the 26-year-old out to Elche.

Malacia 'eager' to secure Elche transfer from Man United

Los Franjiverdes finished second in the 2024-25 Segunda Division to secure a return to La Liga for the 2025-26 campaign, and Malacia would supposedly jump at the chance to represent Elche for the coming season.

Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing over a temporary deal, and Malacia was also left 'enthused' after holding his own discussions with the Elche hierarchy on Monday evening.

Elche are not the only club to have tried their luck with Malacia this summer, as Ligue 1 giants Lille also spoke with the Dutch defender, but he supposedly turned his nose up to joining Les Dogues as head coach Bruno Genesio did not attend the meeting.

Meanwhile, Malacia has apparently rejected the chance to join Serie A outfit Roma - as did Sancho - while offers from Besiktas, Porto and an unnamed club in the Saudi Pro League were also snubbed.

Malacia's move to Elche is likely to be a straight loan deal, as the former Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven defender sees his Man United contract expire next summer, when he is expected to leave the club as a free agent.

The left-back has failed to produce a single goal or assist in 47 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, and he played just eight times for the club in the first half of the 2024-25 season before joining PSV on loan.

With Malacia pushing to join Elche and talks between the two clubs seemingly moving in a positive direction, Man United may be about to axe three players from their bomb squad as the transfer deadline fast approaches.

Garnacho's anticipated move to Chelsea has finally been given the green light, asthe Blues are understood to have reached a full agreement to sign the Argentina internationalfrom the Red Devils in a deal worth around £40m.

In addition, Man United and Real Betis are apparentlyin advanced talks over a second loan move for Antony, who flourished in Spain under Manuel Pellegrini during the second half of the 2024-25 season.

However, the Red Devils are still working to find a solution to the Sancho saga, as no more exit avenues for the Englishman have opened up since his decision to snub Roma.
