Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin was the victim of atrocious timing on Thursday.
Appearing on the “NFL Live” program, Irvin was asked about reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Cowboys were shopping superstar Micah Parsons.
Irvin’s response, delivered minutes before Parsons was traded, didn’t exactly age well.
“There’s no way they allow Micah Parsons to go anywhere,” Irvin declared.
“All of this is part of the negotiations, and as I talked to Jerry (Jones) the other day on my podcast … (he) said somebody told him to shove it up his rear (during negotiations) and all of that … honestly, it blew my mind.”

“Micah Parsons learned to take control of this thing and say, ‘I don’t care about you and whatever y’all got going on. Get your butts in the room and get my money on that paper.’ So I’m hoping that’s what gets done,” Irving continued. “But I guarantee Micah Parson’s not going anywhere. Jerry’s not that crazy.”
As it turns out, Jones is that crazy, and Parsons did indeed go somewhere: the Green Bay Packers.
The Pro Bowler is headed to Green Bay on a four-year, $188 million deal that has Cowboys Nation infuriated beyond belief.

And while Irvin might feel embarrassed by the timing of his Parsons take, he shouldn’t. Few people expected the Cowboys to actually trade Parsons; it was an outrageous and losing idea to do so from Jones, whose already-murky legacy just took a haymaker to the temple.
