Before the 2025 campaign got underway, the Dallas Cowboys found themselves with the final domino of the offseason. While other teams were able to put an end to their contract holdouts, Micah Parsons still found himself without an extension.
Parsons and the Cowboys had been at odds for months, with minimal advancements being made in discussions. That said, the saga finally came to an end on Thursday evening.
A little over three weeks after he announced his trade request in a viral social media post, Parsons finds himself on the move. The Cowboys have decided to cut ties with the star linebacker, trading him to the Green Bay Packers.
In exchange for Parsons, the Cowboys landed defensive tackle Kenny Clark and a pair of first-round picks. Green Bay wasted no time as it pertains to his contract, as they plan on inking him to a deal that will make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history.
With this ordeal behind them now, the Cowboys can finally put all their time and energy into getting back in the hunt in the NFC. However, they'll now attempt to do so without a pillar of their defense.
Skip Bayless gives his take on the Micah Parsons trade
As expected, this blockbuster trade sent shockwaves through the football world. Among those who wasted little time weighing in on the deal was longtime TV analyst Skip Bayless.
Bayless, a known supporter of the Cowboys, is elated to see Parsons move on to a new team. He didn't mince his words on the All-Pro linebacker as he prepares to start a new chapter of his career.
"Just heard the news about Micah Parsons, gone to Green Bay," Bayless said. "My gut reaction, as you might guess, is good riddance and good luck Green Bay. Because you just overpaid for the overhyped Micah Parsons. Who will never be able to live up to that money. Especially in Green Bay, where I don't think he'll ever be happy living."
Since this standoff began, Bayless has never been shy to sound off on Parsons. He's gone on numerous rants about the 26-year-old, most recently calling him childish for his actions in Dallas' preseason finale. With this deal in place, he no longer has to worry about Parsons suiting up for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys will take the field for the first time post-trade next week in their season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
