The Dallas Cowboys shocked the NFL world on Thursday, agreeing to trade superstar pass-rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and first-round picks in 2026 and 2027.
The Packers promptly locked Parsons up to a four-year, $188 million extension, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history ($47 million per year) and instantly pushing them to the front of line of Super Bowl contenders in the NFC.
The trade brought about a social media firestorm of reactions, with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones taking plenty of heat for the way the Parsons situation played out (he tried to finalize a deal without letting Parsons' agent be present for the discussions.)
While Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst was getting praised for landing arguably the top pass-rusher in the NFL, quarterback Jordan Love was also being applauded for seemingly manifesting the Parsons trade back in February when he appeared on Parsons' podcast.
Video of their interaction resurface on social media, showing Love recruiting Parsons to join him in Green Bay.
"Is there anybody in particular around the league that you feel like should come into the organization, could make an impact for y'all? Somebody you want to shout out," Parsons asked.
"I mean, the dude sitting right next to me," Love responded. "That'd be pretty cool. That would be pretty cool no? You don't think so? How you feel about that What would your take be on coming to Green Bay?"
"Listen...I'm a for-lifer," Parsons rebuffed. "I can't go nowhere. Me and Jerry Jones, we done talked — that's my dawg."
Love and Parsons share the same agent, David Mulugheta of Athletes First.
While Parsons was seemingly convinced back then he and the Cowboys would eventually come to terms on a new deal, their relationship had soured in the months since, resulting in a public trade request.
Many believed there was no way Jones would ever deal Parsons, but speculation the Penn State alum would be dealt to Green Bay intensified over the last few days, ultimately resulting in Thursday's blockbuster deal
