Chelsea Under Threat as Tottenham Advance for €65M-Rated Star With PSG Clause

Chelsea’s pursuit of former PSG standout Xavi Simons has hit a roadblock. The club still needs to offload players who aren’t in their plans, and that delay has given Tottenham Hotspur an opening to step in.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported that RB Leipzighave accepted an €80 million bid for Simons, with €55 million payable upfront. The 22-year-old is under contract with Leipzig until June 2027. Furthermore, PSG included a sell-on clause to secure a portion of any future transfer.

That clause has already proven lucrative. AsAdam Crafton of The Athletic highlighted, PSG earned €17 million (£15 million) from Hugo Ekitiké’s move to Liverpool thanks to a similar arrangement.
