Man United next transfer twist emerges as Carlos Baleba confidence confirmed

Manchester United are in talks to sign Senne Lammens, however, they are running out of time to complete a deal before the summer transfer window closes on Monday

Senne Lammens may have made his Manchester United debut in the Carabao Cup third round had Grimsby Town not progressed at their expense on Wednesday night.

The goalkeeper appears likely to back up one of Altay Bayindir or Andre Onana should a move materialise this month. United not qualifying for any UEFA competition this season and already exiting one of the two domestic cup limits chances for their second-choice goalkeeper to feature.

However, it now appears far from a foregone conclusion that the Belgium international will arrive during this summer transfer window. Below is a roundup of the latest reports:

Lammens twist as deal 'not straightforward'

United are reportedly not the only club holding talks over signing Lammens. The Telegraph claims personal terms negotiations have not been straightforward and adds that Galatasaray are exploring whether a deal can happen.

MEN Sport says: The optics of missing out on Lammens to Galatasaray, especially after the starts Bayindir and Onana have made this season, would be awful. However, after what happened at Blundell Park, they will not play in another competition until the FA Cup third round on the second weekend of January, by when Onana, if still at the club, will presumably be away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Brighton's Baleba confidence clear

Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler is "100%" confident Carlos Baleba will stay at the club regardless of any hypothetically lucrative offers they may receive before the transfer deadline. "If there is a number more than 100 [%], I would say more than 100, so fantastically confident," Hurzeler said.

MEN Sport says: Hopes of signing Baleba this summer went away long ago, and Hurzeler has now only rubber-stamped Brighton's refusal to sell the midfielder. If United end up signing a central midfielder over the coming days, it will almost certainly be anyone except the Cameroon international, as Hurzeler has emphasised.
