Newcastle United star Dan Burn has had a few run-ins with Kai Havertz over the years.
The main issue stems from a meeting between Newcastle United and Chelsea from back in 2022.
Havertz was playing for the Blues at the time and clashed with Burn at Stamford Bridge.
Indeed, Havertz escaped a red card after appearing to catch Burn with his elbow. After the game, the Newcastle star described the tackle as “naughty”.
The German forward then went on to score a later winner that day and has continued to clash with Newcastle players even after moving to Arsenal in 2023. Havertz arguably caught Fabian Schar with an elbow in May, while he has also previously clashed with Sean Longstaff.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Burn seemingly hasn’t forgotten the rivalry.

Dan Burn’s subtle message to Kai Havertz
On Thursday, Newcastle United’s Instagram account released a video of Burn and teammate Bruno Guimaraes being quizzed on the Champions League ahead of the draw.
They were asked to name the winners of the competition when given the correlating year.

When it came to 2021, the year in which Havertz won Chelsea the biggest club competition in the world thanks to his goal against Manchester City in Porto, Burn reacted after Guimaraes got the answer correct.
He said: “Oh, that’s a good one. Kai Havertz, my guy…”
When Dan Burn and Kai Havertz could meet again
Newcastle are set to play Arsenal at the end of September, although Havertz’s participation in that clash is in doubt.
According to David Ornstein, the 26-year-old is set to undergo surgery on a knee injury he suffered in training.
Though the Germany star isn’t expected to miss a prolonged period of action, the idea of him playing against Newcastle next month currently looks remote.
That means their most likely reunion will be when Newcastle head down to the Emirates Stadium in April.
