Arsenal haveannounced that forward Kai Havertz has successfully undergone minor surgery on a knee injury, with the club confident the Germany international will not face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The 26-year-old had been ruled out in recent weeks while further assessments were carried out. Following the procedure, Arsenal’s medical staff are optimistic that Havertz will return to action relatively soon, with no major complications expected.

“Mentally, he’s in a really good place,” manager Mikel Arteta said in a statement. “Kai is a tough lad, and we’re confident he’ll come back stronger. He showed last season how resilient he can be, and we’re all behind him for a quick recovery.”

Havertz endured a difficult 2024/25 campaign after suffering a hamstring injury during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai last February, which sidelined him for several months. He returned in time to feature in Arsenal’s final two Premier League matches, having played a pivotal role in his debut season with the club by appearing in 37 of 38 league fixtures following his move from Chelsea in 2023.

With Havertz temporarily unavailable, summer signing Viktor Gyokeres is expected to lead the line, having already impressed with a brace against Leeds United. Gabriel Jesus is continuing his recovery from an ACL injury sustained in January, while Mikel Merino and Leandro Trossard, who deputised as makeshift strikers last season could again be called upon.

Arsenal have also strengthened their attack with the £60 million signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, a move designed to add creativity and depth as the club navigates a demanding schedule.

The Gunners are set for a challenging Champions League league phase, with high-profile fixtures against Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and others, making Havertz’s quick return all the more important.

While no exact timeline has been set for his comeback, Arsenal remain confident that Havertz’s absence will be short-lived and will not significantly impact their campaign.
