‘Until the last second’ - Newcastle United ownership release transfer message to supporters as…

Newcastle United are finally set to land a transfer breakthrough once Nick Woltemade completes his medical today.

Jamie Reuben has vowed to fight “until the last second” of the transfer window to ensure Newcastle United are firing on all cylinders this season.

NewcastleWorld understands the Magpies have finally landed a striker breakthrough in the market, with Nick Woltemade arriving on Tyneside last night. He is set to undergo a medical this morning ahead of a £65million move.

The German international registered 33 goal contributions last season and joins an Eddie Howe squad in desperate need for a striker. Alexander Isak has downed tools for Newcastle since May and, should another centre-forward arrive before the September 1 deadline, he may finally be granted his dream move to Liverpool.

Jamie Reuben on transfer efforts

Speaking to TNT Sports at the Champions League draw, Toon co-owner Reuben insisted officials are working around the clock on new arrivals. He said: “They (the fans) should rest assured we're working hard.

“We have worked hard all summer to make sure that the team is in the best possible condition to compete at the highest levels of football. That's what we always want. We've worked very hard and we'll continue working very hard up until the last second to ensure the team is in tip top shape for the campaign ahead.”

And on the Champions League draw?

“Some very big teams, as you say,” Reuben added after Newcastle drew Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayer Leverkusen, Benfica, Marseille, PSV Eindhoven, Athletic Bilbao and Union SG in the Champions League. “Five champions. So we're definitely in illustrious company, but we're looking forward to it and (there are) some great fixtures ahead.

“I think it (PSG in 2023) was one of my greatest nights ever. I was there and it was an unbelievable performance, our first home game back in the Champions League for so many years. Let's hope we can give that a repeat. We take that as a compliment, the fact that people don't like to come to St James' Park. We have turned it into a fortress in recent years.

“We're looking forward to being back in the Champions League. It's always a special atmosphere, Champions League nights at St James' Park. I hope we'll be up for the occasion.

Jamie Reuben on Newcastle United start

Reuben also stayed optimistic on Newcastle’s start to the campaign after two solid displays despite picking up a win. He said: “We've been really good. I think we’ve played really well.

“We deserved more than the points that we've got so far. But I thought those games were a really good sign of the cohesiveness of the team, the strength of the team and also the determination of the team as well. So I'm looking forward for the rest of the campaign.”
